Assassin’s Creed: Origins actor Abubakar Salim is now the CEO and creative director of his own dev studio, Silver Rain Games.
Silver Rain Games is based in the UK and has already begun work on its first IP. The game is in the prototype stage, but Salim wants to create a game that tells “stories that will empower players.” Currently, the studio is looking for talent to continue development on the new project.
Abubakar Salim is perhaps best known for his performance as Bayek in Assassin’s Creed: Origins. His excellent work in the title got him a Bafta nomination. But he has also worked on major titles such as World of Warcraft. He is currently set to star in Ridley Scott’s new television series Raised by Wolves. Salim doesn’t have any game development experience. Instead, he is using his creative experiences as an actor as a foundation for his work.
Salim is joined by Melissa Philips, who will be Head of Studio. She has done a lot of work with BAFTA, but most impressive is her being named one of the most influential women working in the UK gaming industry. Philips and Salim will be a powerful pair in ensuring the success of the studio. Specifically, the two will be effective in securing funding for their projects.
If Silver Rain Games finds success, Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey won’t be Abubakar Salim’s defining work. It won’t be too long where Salim might be known for his role as a creative director as much as an actor. But time will tell. It will obviously be quite a while until we see a title from Silver Rain Games considering the studio’s existence was only announced just announced this past Friday.
