Austin Butler’s worst fashion trend involved when he messed with his hair to fit in with a group. The Elvis actor told E! News how a group of “skater kids” inspired the worst fashion trend he’s ever tried.

Austin Butler’s skater kids revolution period saw him getting his entire hair spiked in a bid to look like them. 

“I used to spike my hair completely on every end,” Austin revealed at the 2023 SAG Awards, “so it was just the entire head was spiked because I hung out with all these skater kids and I wanted to be just like them.”

Austin Butler Talks About Elvis’s Role

Away from Austin Butler’s worst fashion trends, the focus is on his ability to transform into Elvis Presley expertly. His tubular role in the movie earned him acclaim and an Oscar nomination. 

The actor has also described it as one of the most meaningful experiences of his career.

“It’s hard to quantify a way to properly pay homage,” he said of the role. “It’s changed my life, the experience of getting to live in his shoes and look out of his eyes for that amount of time. It’s been one of the greatest gifts of my life. Being welcomed into his family is truly something I’m so honored about.”

Austin especially shared a close bond with Elvis’ only child Lisa Marie who died at age 54 on January 12. The two shared several heartfelt moments before her death. Lisa Marie even praised the project on Instagram for capturing her dad “accurately and respectfully.”

Austin said her death “shifted the whole perspective at this time, which is such a time of celebration of her father.” He added on February 15 that he felt carrying the Elvis legacy was important to Elvis’ daughter. 

Baz Luhrmann directed Elvis, which follows the life of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s journey to fame. It also portrays his complicated relationship with his manager Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks). 

Austin Butler’s worst fashion trend shows he was also like every other kid. Most kids grew up wanting to fit in at some point and did what they could do to fit in. Thankfully, Austin outgrew that phase.
