Bandai Namco’s been pretty bleak and vague when it comes to revealing detailed information about Tekken 8’s new game mechanics and changes. We got a detailed interview with Harada about gameplay changes, but nothing we could actually read in fine print until today.
Tekken 8 New Game Mechanics – Detailed!
Today, Bandai Namco revealed Tekken 8’s new game mechanics in a detailed blog post. The guide details everything players need to figure out right before jumping into the Closed Alpha Test that’s coming up pretty soon.
Rage State
Effect: When a Character’s health drops to a certain level, it automatically enters a “rage state,” and its attack power increases.
Activation/Command: When a gauge decreases, it is automatically activated.
Rage Art
Effect: Powerful special moves can be activated as a one-shot turnaround.
Activation/Command: During Rage state, R2.
Heat Burst
Effect:
- Activating Heat while setting up a slamming attack.
- It gives a slight advantage on hit and on guard over the opponent.
Command: R1
Heat Engager
Effect:
- Attack that can activate Heat if that hits an opponent.
- After the hit, a character runs to the opponent and gains a significant advantage.
Command: Multiple moves depends on the character. Refer to other reference material.
Heat Smash
Effect:
- Consume all Heat Energy to give huge damage.
- Heat state ends when Heat Smash is used
Command: R1
Heat Engager
Effect:
- If activated when a Heat Engager is hit, an opponent’s reaction changes, and connecting to a combo gets possible.
- If activated when a Heat Engager is guarded, you can get close to an opponent and make an advantageous situation.
Command: During heat state, hit or guard your opponent with the Heat Engager. And R1 as a leading input or ⇨.
