Batman: Arkham Collection, which includes the complete Rocksteady Arkham trilogy, has been released on the Xbox Marketplace.
For $60, players will be able to delve back into the beloved Rocksteady franchise in its fullest, including the post-launch content from all three games. Here’s a synopsis for the game from its Microsoft Store page:
“Batman: Arkham Collection brings you the definitive versions of Rocksteady’s Arkham Trilogy games, including all post-launch content, in one complete collection.
Experience two of the most critically acclaimed titles of the last generation – Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, with fully remastered and updated visuals. Complete your experience with the explosive finale to the Arkham series in Batman: Arkham Knight. Become the Batman and utilize a wide range of gadgets and abilities to face off against Gotham’s most dangerous villains, finally facing the ultimate threat against the city that Batman is sworn to protect.”
The Rocksteady franchise started in 2009 with Arkham Asylum, which saw the Dark Knight go toe to toe with The Joker, who had taken over the infamous Arkham Asylum. There, you as the Dark Knight would have to face many of DC’s most notable villains including Bane, Poison Ivy, and Scarecrow.
Over time, this series had two official Rocksteady sequels, Arkham City and Arkham Knight. Both of these games were highly successful and were definite Game of the Year candidates in many gamers’ minds.
In between those sequels, Arkham Origins was released. This was, you guessed it, an origin story for Batman and even some of his rogues. Even though it is still regarded as a great game by some gamers out there, Rocksteady decided not to include it as a part of its main franchise. This is because Origins was not made by the developer but instead by Warner Bros. Montreal.
The Xbox One enhanced Batman: Arkham Collection is available now on the Xbox Store. It is unclear at this time when or if this collection will make its way to the PS4.
