It’s been a busy couple weeks for Spawn fans and Todd McFarlane, with the reveal of the beautiful Spawn #300 cover, and the fact that he’s writing and directing a new movie about our favorite anti-hero, there has been no shortage of Spawn related content to keep us excited for the future. Todd McFarlane decided to add to the hype when he dropped artwork for the historical 300th issue of his beloved comic series, letting everyone know that Greg Capullo, longtime Batman Artist, has penciled a few pages himself.

These images, besides being just great pieces of artwork, reveal a little of what to expect. It seems we have Spawn himself facing down some insectoid demon who looks suspiciously a lot like his old nemesis, The Violator. Fans of the 1997 movie should recognize this character as he was played by John Leguizamo. Initially, the movie came out to mixed reviews but in the past few years, it has developed a cult following, as is becoming more and more frequent with the old superhero movies from the 90s.
Todd McFarlane revealed he is planning on releasing this historic issue with 10 variant covers, 5 of them being drawn by McFarlane himself. Adding to this, this issue marks the first time since 1995 that Todd McFarlane himself will pencil and ink his creation. Other noteworthy artists will be contributing to this monumental 78-page issue, such as Greg Capullo the longtime Batman artist, Jerome Opena who has worked on Seven to Eternity and the Uncanny X-Force, and Jason Shawn who’s lent his talent to Spawn before along with Empty Zone, along with J. Scott Campbell who drew up the gorgeous cover art revealed last week.
Are you excited about this huge issue? Are you like me and planning to take the day off to get this and read it? Let me know in the comments!
