DC Comics fans, rejoice! Batman/Superman has the titular heroes in their own comic series starting in August. The Dark Knight and the Man of Steel have long been allies and had their own title together years ago. After a long wait, DC is bringing back the original World’s Finest duo and their first adventure will test their abilities.
Batman/Superman and The Batman Who Laughs Spoilers Ahead
The first storyline of the series comes hot off the heels of The Batman Who Laughs, a miniseries that saw the titular villain wreak havoc across Gotham. An alternate version of the Caped Crusader from Earth-22 arrived on Prime-Earth some time ago. Possessing a combination of Batman’s abilities and the Joker’s insanity, the evil Dark Knight spread chaos during his reign of terror. Though he was ultimately defeated, The Batman Who Laughs secretly infected six unknown victims with his toxin. The infection transforms its recipient into a Joker themselves. To make matters worse, if the victim does not receive treatment soon, the process is irreversible.
The new Batman/Superman series starts with the titular heroes tracking down the infected “Secret Six.” As the two investigate potential victims, a mysterious hooded figure attacks them. Their foe is none other than Shazam with a strange weapon and a twisted grin! The heroes fight with one hand tied behind their backs as they do not want to harm the boy inside Earth’s Mightiest Mortal. The action surely won’t stop there, as the two heroes begin to realize that anybody could be a sleeper agent. Can the World’s Finest maintain trust between one another?
Batman/Superman #1 releases on August 14. A synopsis for issue #2 has been released which you can see here. Will the heroes save the secret victims before they succumb to their infections? Or does The Batman Who Laughs have an even more sinister plot in store? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
