Battlefield 2042 Free For PlayStation Plus Users
Recently on Twitter, the Official Twitter handle for Battlefield announced that Battlefield 2042 is free for PlayStation Plus Subscribers. Now, you might be a bit skeptical, considering PlayStation Plus games are free until the entirety of the subscription period. After it expires, it’s back to no more games or renewing your membership. Right?
Well, EA seems to be a bit generous this time around. Battlefield 2042 is basically up for grabs for PlayStation Plus. @Battlefield states that members of Sony’s service will be able to redeem the game and keep it in their library. But it’s a limited-time offer and will expire on April 3.
It was earlier in February when the CEO of EA, Blake Jorgenson, admitted to the fact that the overall sales for Battlefield 2042 were rather disappointing. The game was set to be one of the most ambitious Battlefield titles ever, but of course, the hype died down when players got to experience the buggy 128-player mess in its full glory.
We did have a challenge in Q3 as the launch of Battlefield 2042 did not meet expectations.Developing this game with our teams working from home for nearly two years ultimately proved to be challenging.
We’re committed to turning Battlefield around and building a sustainable live service, even if some of the actions we’re taking, like moving the first season into FY 2023, impact net bookings in the short term.
As originally forecast, the Battlefield franchise would have accounted for significantly less than 10% of this year’s net bookings and well below 5% of next year’s. We’re revising those numbers, but you can see it has little impact on FY 2023 growth.” – Blake Jorgenson
