Rumors have been circulating for a few weeks now that the next Nintendo Direct event will be taking place on January 11th, according to industry insiders. But what could the event entail? According to Redditor _darth_solo, one of the announcements is that Bayonetta 3 will be coming to the Nintendo Switch this year.
The Redditor posted the following thread on the Nintendo Switch subreddit a few hours ago.
I cannot personally reveal my source, but I have it on good authority from a reliable source that Bayonetta 3 will be released this year, maybe this summer. It will not be released later than 2018 barring a disaster.
I have confirmed my sources with the mods, u/FlapSnapple gave me the go ahead for this, so they can vouch for it. I’m sorry but I can’t say much more other than watch out for the Nintendo Direct because Bayonetta 3 will be one of those placeholder games that Nintendo is preparing to release. This direct may be Nintendo’s E3 if what we’ve heard is true.
As _darth_solo touched on in his post, Amazon recently posted 18 placeholder games for the Nintendo Switch to be shown off at a January event. One of those games is believed to be Bayonetta 3.
Bayonetta 3 was just recently announced at the 2017 Game Awards as a Switch exclusive by Nintendo America President, Reggie Fils-Aimé. Alongside that announcement, he first revealed that Bayonetta 1 & 2 are coming to the Nintendo Switch on February 18, 2018.
A mid to late 2018 release date for the third iteration of the game seems like perfect timing. Not only will it give fans ample time to play the first two on the Switch, but it also has the capability of cashing in on gamers wanting to play the next one ASAP if they are hooked.
Even though the event isn’t confirmed, it’s already shaping up to be the biggest moment in gaming so far in 2018. Out of the 18 aforementioned listings, 12 are at $59.99 with the rest being higher priced indicating they might just be special collectors editions of the 12 new games. This means that 12 games are likely to be revealed at the event.
