Before Your Eyes, an indie adventure title from Skybound Games (The publisher of The Walking Dead Telltale games), is coming to Steam on April 8, 2021. In this ever-changing industry, it is important to push away fears of critiques and try something new. This game gives the option of using a webcam. Some people may not already have one, but it is a prerequisite for experiencing this new style of gaming. Those of us playing video games on our computers will find any way just for the experience Before Your Eyes will bring. From the trailer alone, we are introduced to the age-old saying, “don’t blink or you might miss something.” This emotional yank back into reality while still being a video game is better seen than believed.

Before Your Eyes is an indie first-person game in narrative form that tells the story of a soul passing on, this soul cannot pass on, however, without reliving their lives in front of your eyes. This new and interesting style of interaction involves your own blinks! In Before Your Eyes, the player controls the speed at which the game is played by blinking their eyes. If the player blinks too fast, they might miss something happening in the story. Each step, the character’s life hits on an emotional level, from reliving first love to diving deeper into long-lost memories. This is a clever way of distracting you from the real world while reminding you what is important in life. With this innovation plus full voice acting, Before Your Eyes can easily be the start of a new style of games.
