Below Deck star, Camille Lamb’s shadow continues to loom over Below Deck season 10 despite her exit from the show a fortnight ago. Camille was a controversial character during her time on the show, and even after leaving, she remains a source of contention for two of the show’s top guns. Following her exit from Below Deck, Captain Lee Rosbach and his temporary replacement Captain Sandy Yawn locked in a war of words over the latter’s handling of Camille’s sacking from St. David. The drama started after the Below Deck episode, where Sandy informed Lee about the sacking through facetime. Earlier in the season, Sandy took over from Lee as captain due to his health issues.
After the episode aired, Lee took to his official Twitter account to express his displeasure about Sandy’s handling of the sacking. While he stood by the decision to fire Camille, he berated Sandy for not informing him before taking action. It was clear during the 73-year-old’s exchange with fans that he felt slighted by her actions. However, Sandy did not take the criticisms lying down as she responded with several cryptic messages seemingly aimed at him. Meanwhile, some viewers of the show found Captain Lee’s criticism of Sandy unfair and immediately got behind her. They have since totally made the fight their own.
Below Deck Fans Feel Captain Lee Is Overreaching
Many viewers were unhappy with how Captain Lee came for Captain Sandy. Many believed that his actions undermined her authority on the boat since she is the one in charge pending the time he returns to duty. The rift between the two has become a huge talking point, and as usual, fans took the conversation to Reddit. Under a thread captioned “Captain Lee calling out Captain Sandy,” many of the show’s viewers agreed that Lee was out of line with his tirade against Sandy.
The users argued that some situations require fast decisions, and Sandy was within her rights as Captain to address the issue immediately. They specifically took issue with his public call out of Sandy and felt it should have been handled privately. Another section of viewers hammered on the fact that Camille was not even a high-ranking crew member, and her toxicity constituted a distraction aboard St. David. So, her sacking should not have caused an issue.
Below Deck Fans Feel Captain Lee Should Focus On His Health
Many Below Deck viewers made sure to express their disappointment in Captain Lee for what they felt was disrespectful to Captain Sandy. However, some fans tried to see things from his perspective and were more empathetic to what he may be going through on the sidelines. Many of them agreed he probably wished he was working and felt he was being hard on himself for having to take a medical leave to sort out his health problems. Nevertheless, they urged him to make use of the time off to focus on his health. They emphasized that he had no business taking calls regarding decision-making on the boat. While commenting, one Reddit user echoed the same thoughts. The user wrote:
“I could see if, again maybe if it was a dept head-I could see the possibility of annoyance but not a deck/stew. Doesn’t make sense. Sounds like he just be frustrated with his health-I’m not on Twitter though, so can’t say.”
It is hard to imagine what Captain Lee might be going through having to watch things play out on his boat like every other viewer. However, he must not let the frustration push him to actions that could cost him the goodwill of the fans.
