Now that Better Call Saul has ended, leading star Bob Odenkirk is seeking action roles. Following his John Wick-styled flick with John Wick writer Derek Kolstad, Nobody, the actor said at the Venice Film Festival that he would like to do more of the genre.
“I still train multiple times a week and if I get my way you’re going to see me do more action.”
Known for his Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul role as Saul Goodman, Bob Odenkirk got a taste for blood in Nobody. He did the film because he “had a feeling” that the character had similarities to the “criminal” lawyer due to his “earnest desires” and how he would be “willing to sacrifice himself.”
Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk has a thirst for action roles
From Jackie Chan to Marvel to even John Wick, many action flicks mix humor alongside the adrenaline-bumping fight sequences. For Better Call Saul actor Bob Odenkirk would like to do something that can mix the two as he compared it to doing “sketch comedy.”
“I love early Jackie Chan films which had humor in them. I’d like to do that in [the] future.”
A return to action will happen as Bullet Train director and Nobody producer David Leitch confirmed most of the original team is back, and the writing has begun for the sequel. It is not confirmed if Ilya Naishuller (Hardcore Henry) will return to direct the sequel to the film that saw Bob Odenkirk go from lawyer in Better Call Saul to a normal family man turned killing machine after his home his burglarized.
Recently Better Call Saul ended after six seasons of Bob Odenkirk leading it. After his stint in Breaking Bad, it seems we will not see anything from that world for a while as Vince Gilligan moves on to his next project.
