24-year-old Bindi Irwin shared a photo on Instagram of herself in the hospital after her surgery. The procedure was performed by endometriosis specialist, Dr. Tamer Seckin from the Seckin Endometriosis Center at Lenox Hill Hospital.
The conservationist revealed that her surgeon removed a total of thirty-seven lesions. Also, a “chocolate cyst” which is a term for a cyst filled with menstrual blood, was removed from Bindi’s body.
The TV personality’s family has been a support system for Bindi during her struggle. On Wednesday, the Zookeeper opened up about her struggle with the disease for the first time. Bindi’s brother, 19-year-old Robert Irwin, shared a heartwarming message to his sister on Instagram.
Accompanied by a selfie of the both of them, Robert wrote that he was proud of his sister. After a decade-long battle with pain from the disease, Robert is happy that Bindi is finally on the road to recovery. Robert continued by stating how awful endometriosis is. Many women around the world suffer from this disease and attention is not paid to it.
Robert was proud that his sister was able to share her “story of resilience” with the world to encourage women around the world. In addition to that, the story is also a wake-up call to men that women go through diseases like this that cause pain.

Apart from the TV star’s brother’s heartfelt message, Bindi’s husband, Chandler Powell also showed his support. Powell posted a picture of his wife on Instagram and wrote that she is his inspiration to be strong.
Powell praised the conservationist for taking care of their family despite her struggles. Bindi was touched by her brother and husband’s message to her and appreciated them.
