Marvel Studios has posted on social media that it has changed the title of Captain America 4 to have Brave New World as its subtitle. It was previously titled Captain America: New World Order. In the post, we also get a look at Anthony Mackie in his costume with Harrison Ford behind-the-scenes (seen below). The release date has not changed, remaining in the May 3, 2024 slot.
New World Order had ruffled some feathers online. It is the name of a conspiracy theory about the meddling of powerful elites. As such, the fandom has been discussing that subtitle since its reveal. In reality, it was most likely named after the first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. This episode saw Sam Wilson go from being Falcon to taking on the mantle of Captain America. While it is unknown why the name changed, it does create a feeling that is less conspiracy theory-oriented and more optimistic. However, the tone the film will have remains unclear for the time being.

The image above is not the first time we have seen a look at the new suit. A leaked image from a photographer revealed a glimpse at Mackie’s new suit, showing a golden symbol and the new color palette. Previously, he had a comic book-accurate red, white, and blue costume in his Disney Plus series. The off-set image is the first time we see Ford working on a Marvel movie. The legendary actor comes in to replace the late William Hurt as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. He will also be featured in Thunderbolts.
Captain America: Brave New World will be directed by Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox) and written by Malcolm Spellman (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier). It will hit theaters on May 3, 2024.
