Ever since its Kickstarter debut, Bloodstained has been one of the most anticipated Metroidvania RPGs in recent times. Produced by industry veteran, Koji Igarashi, the goal for the title was clear. To bring Castlevania Symphony of the Night into a new era with even larger maps and enemies. Thankfully, Igarashi was able to deliver on that promise, and even create two 8-bit games in the process. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night even has some extensive DLC and fun extras that add to the incredible content on offer. All of this follows the classic story of a medieval world in the midst of supernatural demonic terror. Now, the critically acclaimed Metroidvania title is coming to more platforms. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is now available on iOS and Android devices.
Despite the normal setbacks a title takes when moving from a standard console to mobile release, the entire game is fully playable. While there have been worries about performance due to the lackluster Switch port, it is only a $10 barrier to entry. Being able to play through the title and unlock randomizer mode to run through it all again is very lucrative in such a cheap release. Even if you choose a different option like playing the title through an online service like project xCloud, you still don’t get access to the optimized control layout and even steady frames from no connection being required.
With Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night now released on all major platforms, what remains to be seen is what Artplay has yet to unveil. After this summer’s release of Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2, fans expectations are quite high to see what is next for Miriam and Zangetsu. With more content on the way for the title later this year, it seems that the development team is heading in great directions for the Bloodstained series.
