Bandai Namco’s upcoming action RPG, Blue Protocol, received a brand new trailer representing its world, characters, and combats.
Originally announced back in June last year, Blue Protocol is another action RPG project along with Tales of Arise being developed by Bandai Namco. Featuring anime-like visuals, Blue Protocol represents a Horizon Zero Dawn-style where technology meets old-fashioned weapons. While deadly giants are roaming around out there in the wilderness searching for critters like you, there are still more threats in the world that have to worry about.
While Tales of Arise is supposed to tightly bound to its story, Blue Protocol is a multiplayer-based online RPG with a detailed character creation system and promising co-op gameplay. Starting the game as a rookie warrior, you will team up with other players to fight against giants and on top of them, the main antagonist of the game, which is shown at the end of the trailer. As you progress in the game, you will get access to both melee and long-ranged weapons, while upgrading your special abilities, such as healing, would benefit you in team battles.
Unfortunately, Bandai Namco hasn’t confirmed English support for the game yet, but its closed beta which is going to be held in March welcomes 50,000 players from all over the world. Taking Blue Protocol at face value, the game looks to be a potential RPG that’s worth to give a shot. If you see fit to play it before launch, you have to register for the closed beta on February 12th. It will only be available on PC. Currently, there’s no news on an open beta session for the game.
Blue Protocol doesn’t have an exact release date yet, but it would likely hit current-gen platforms as well as PC sometime in 2020 in Japan. It’s worth noting that a recent rumor revealed that Bandai Namco has recruited a localization director, perhaps to add English support at a later date.
