Boba Fett’s Ship “Slave 1” Name Scrubbed By Disney

Slave 1 is arguably the best ship to ever have existed in anything film and/or tv. But it seems as though Disney is trying to change something that might not need changing. Movieweb is reporting that one of their new Star Wars Lego sets has changed the name of Slave 1 to Boba Fett’s Starfighter. The set is a take on the ship from The Mandalorian show (which appears towards the end of season 2), and along with 593 pieces to build  Slave 1, you also get Boba Fett and Din Djarin Lego figures.

Slave 1 Forever

This news seems to have been brought to everyone’s attention by the best bounty hunter in the galaxy, or at least the guy that played him. Mark Anthony Austin, who portrayed Boba Fett in the 1997 special edition of A New Hope, brought this former non-issue up on his Twitter yesterday; even going as far as saying today that people should not buy this misnamed Star Wars Lego set, “I hope nobody buys this newly misnamed merchandise. I vow not to give a single dollar myself. Now, if it’s packaged Slave 1, I might….” Most of the response to this was in support of Slave 1, claiming that they will continue to use the name Slave 1 even though Michael Lee Stockwell, a Lego designer, confirmed to Jedi News that they will no longer be using the name Slave 1 in future merchandise.

Disney has stayed quiet so far and has not announced anything concrete. This could just be on the packaging for Star Wars Lego sets, but only time will tell if they continue to scrub this name from existence. What’s next Disney, are you gonna try and scrub away Leia calling Han a scruffy-looking Nerf herder, too?

For those unaware, the ship is a modified Firespray-class patrol craft that has a maximum speed of 620 Mph. Both Fetts, Boba, and Jango have flown the baddest ship in the galaxy. It has appeared in The Empire Strikes Back and in The Mandalorian, alongside numerous other Star Wars literature.
