Along with the Borderlands 3 announcement, Gearbox Studios showed off some new stuff from their own studios as well as some other studios they’re helping. Gearbox Publishing took to helping independent developers with their own games for 2019. Such developers include Compulsion Games, TinyBuild, and others were mentioned to be working with Gearbox Publishing. Gearbox Studios themselves, mentioned by Randy Pitchford, were an independent developer before the success of Borderlands. They also mentioned new games from developers such as System Error, Squanch Games, and Hopoo Games are coming later this year.
The team behind the work on Borderlands 2 VR came out next. With Cullen Sweet leading the information, they announced that the Handsome Jack Collection will now be available for the current generation of consoles in ultra high definition and 4k resolution. They listened to the community and gave the players what they wanted. Borderlands 2 VR will support the PlayStation aim assist controller for PS4 players. The support is out now and the higher resolution will be available to players who already own the game.
Last but not least, the biggest announcement of the presentation was made. Borderlands 3 actually had a rocky start as the video trailer would not load. After a few tweaks, the trailer finally loaded up. Mentioned by the team from Gearbox Studios, Borderlands 3 is bringing back many of the fan favorites. Including that of Tiny Tina, Moxie, Brick, Lillith, and so much more. They announced the new villains of the game with the trailer. The names of the two are referred to as the Calypso Twins. No confirmation on the name of the baddies from the team for now. And of course, the trailer revealed that you will be able to shoot your way through Pandora with over a billion different guns (including guns with legs). More news and gameplay of Borderlands 3 will be arriving soon (April 3rd to be exact).
At this time, Borderlands 3 does not have a release date. What did you think of the Gearbox PAX East panel? Did you like the Borderlands 3 reveal? Let’s hear what you think. As always keep keeping on!
