The revival of classic puzzle-action-platformer game is getting its debut on PlayStation 4 along with a massive update to the Nintendo Switch version. TAITO and developer ININ games have just announced that Bubble Bobble 4 Friends: The Baron is Back is now available in digital and physical forms.
Bubble Bobble 4 Friends: The Baron is Back is an expansion to the original game. It features a four-player co-op mode, 200 different hand-crafted levels, online ranking, and packed with the original arcade version. The expansion will also mark the return of fan-favorite “flying skeleton creature”, Baron von Blubba. PlayStation 4 owners who buy the game will get to experience both the original as well as all the new contents in The Baron is Back expansion. Meanwhile, Nintendo Switch fans are not overlooked. The Baron is Back update is free to download via the Nintendo eShop if you already own the base Bubble Bobble 4 Friends on Nintendo Switch.
Bubble Bobble 4 Friends was first released for Nintendo Switch early the year. More specifically on March 31, 2020. The game stars four cute dinosaurs called Bub, Bob, Peb, and Pab as its playable characters. To defeat enemies and continue to the next level, you have to blow bubbles to trap the enemies. And then burst the bubbles by simply jumping on top of it or colliding with them. Defeated enemies turn into food that you can pick up for points.
The returning fan-favorite enemy is Baron von Blubba, or known as Skel-Monsta in Japanese. It is a recurring enemy in the Bubble Bobble series. It always appears when you take too much time to complete a level. Invincible and can’t be trapped, The Baron will only go away if you manage to complete the level or lose a life. Personally, I’ve always referred to it as a “skeleton whale” thanks to its weird body shape. Ready to pop some bubble in Bubble Bobble 4 Friends: The Baron is Back?
