Bugsnax, the surprisingly popular PS5 game that went viral after its original reveal, is receiving its first major update, The Isle of BIGsnax. The update looks to be crammed full of content for new and old players alike, and, the best part, it will be added to the base game in the form of a free update. The Isle of BIGsnax will take players to a whole new island where the Bugsnax is massive. The update will introduce new mechanics such as “Shrink Spice,” which players will need to bring the new giant Bugsnax down to a catchable size. Players will be joined on the new island by fan-favorite characters Chandlo, Floofty, Triffany, and Shelda. On the island, we will get to see more of the personal stories of the characters mentioned above.
Additions will also be coming to Snaxburg. In The Isle of BIGsnax, players will now be able to have their own huts, which can be decorated with furniture and accessories.
The cutest part of the new update is, without doubt, the Bughats. Bughats will allow players to dress up their favorite Bugsnax with some snazzy new formal wear.
The update will also come with a dozen new Bugsnax to catch, over 100 challenges, 30 quests, and 200 decorations to collect. New players will be able to experience The Isle of BIGsnax during their normal playthrough of the game. Returning players will be able to play the update by loading up their last save of the game.
Bugsnax, although also released on PS4 and PC, was one of the PS5s launch games when it came out last year. Despite being one of the more niche titles of the PS5s line-up, it became a surprise hit with fans and even became a meme in its own right.
Bugsnax was released to positive reviews last year on PS5, PS4, and PC. The game’s first major update, The Isle of BIGsnax is set for release in early 2022 and will be a free update for all players.
