Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War gamers received an unexpected multiplayer update last Wednesday. The inclusion of the Scythe melee weapon was a subtle element of the most recent update. Due to Cold War no longer being the primary series game, many were unsure if it would ever be released. Weirdly enough, Fans were able to complete an unlock challenge for the Scythe in the Cold War when the update went live on Wednesday. Many of them already had the weapon on hand when it suddenly disappeared. Here is the answer if you are wondering how to unlock Call of Duty’s Scythe.
Unlocking the Scythe in Call of Duty
While this was thrilling at the time, Treyarch immediately followed up with a patch that removed the Scythe from the game.
Fans are now wondering how they might get their hands on the Scythe. The response isn’t what they want to hear, but it comes straight from the mouths of Treyarch’s devs.

Regrettably, any multiplayer gamers that completely unlocked the Scythe or want to try it out will not be able to unlock the weapon. Treyarch has locked The Scythe until later this year, according to their Trello. Call of Duty’s Scythe will be completely available at some time in the future. It will present the same challenges that came with acquiring it in the first place. These tasks, which include multiplayer and zombies, may be found here.
The developers will revoke the progress that unlocked the melee weapon, albeit only by one match. Players must fulfill the requirements in one match to re-unlock the Scythe. This will work when it becomes available later this year. Fortunately, players who did not unlock the weapon but progressed through the challenge will keep their progress. Also, any camo advancement achieved for the Scythe will be preserved.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.
