Back in April, two new maps were added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare; after a while, they disappeared from the multiplayer option without a trace. After some tweaking, the two maps are coming back to the Warzone Mode and here’s hoping that players get to use the map this time around.
The maps that are making a comeback are the Al-Raab Airbase and Drainage, both of which can be played thanks to an update on Modern Warfare’s multiplayer mode. Al-Raab Airbase can be played as a 6v6 map through the 24/7 playlist, while Drainage is available as a Gunfight map and Snipers Only playlist, according to a tweet by Infinity Ward. This is the first we are hearing that Activision is continuing support on an older title rather than games like Black Ops or Warzone. This should bring players back on Modern Warfare since there are still people playing their multiplayer modes.
?#ModernWarfare Playlist Update!?Live now across platforms:
– Adding ‘Al-Raab Airbase’ 24/7
– Adding ‘Drainage’ to Gunfight and Gunfight- Snipers Only playlists
– Removing Search and Destroy Double Down— Infinity Ward (@InfinityWard) June 30, 2021
These maps were originally added to Modern Warfare back in March. Both Al-Raab Airbase and Drainage were made available to play on private matches, but Activision decided to take them off the game to spend more time developing the areas. The first map may be familiar to those who have played through the campaign mission, Proxy War. The airbase just happens to be pretty huge for a 6v6 map, so there’s plenty of space to move around and even snipe out players nearby. Drainage also is pretty big, with a bridge that truly makes the map unique. There’s also much cover to use on the ground due to the amount of debris that can be found in the area.
Other than the two additional maps, the playlist update also included removing the Search and Destroy Double Down mode, which allowed teams of 12 to rig enemy weapon storage with a demo charge. It’s good to see that Activision is focusing its attention on their older games with some new content even though Black Ops still gets a ton of popularity among players with season four coming.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update is live now for anyone willing to try out these maps.
