Call of Duty: Modern Warfare beta will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Though, this week, only PS4 owners will be able to play it. Indeed, the beta debuts on Sony’s console from September 12 to September 16. In the first two days, September 12 and September 13, the beta will be in early access exclusive to PS4 players that preordered Modern Warfare. The open beta starts on September 14, where everyone can play.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare beta doesn’t require a PlayStation Plus subscription. The pre-download will roll out today, Tuesday, September 10 between 10-11 AM PDT. For UK players it will be around 6-7 PM BST, so it should be available to everyone at this time.
For the ones who preordered a digital PS4 copy on the PlayStation Store, the beta will be ready to download on September 10. While the players who preordered a physical copy will need to redeem a code. Activision about that said:
“Check the email of the address that’s attached to your Call of Duty account. If you don’t see this email in your inbox, check your SPAM/Junk folder.”
“If you find the Beta Codes email in either of these folders, make sure you mark these emails as “Not Spam” so you can continue to receive important messages from Call of Duty.”
“Downloading the Beta (PS4): Once you’ve received your Beta Code, go to the PlayStation Store. Select ‘Redeem Codes.’ Enter your Beta Code, and the download will begin.”
It’s also worth noting that the beta’s file isn’t the same as the Modern Warfare 2v2 alpha. Therefore it will be necessary to download it even if you have the alpha’s file on your console.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare beta will arrive on other platforms as well
The second beta test will start on September 19 and will run until September 23. On all platforms. The ones who preordered the game on Xbox One or PC will have access to the beta early, on September 19. The open beta, instead, starts on September 21. All PlayStation 4 players will have access to the beta from the start.
“Downloading the Beta (Xbox One): Once you’ve received your Beta Code, go to the Microsoft Store. Select ‘Use a Code.’ Enter your Beta Code and the download will begin.”
Therefore, Xbox One and PC owners will have the chance to join their PlayStation 4 friends one week later. Literally, because this second beta test will include cross-play; which means that different platforms users will have the chance to play together at the new Modern Warfare.
