For all you Modern Warfare fans out there, each seasonal update is a treat to look forward to. It brings along a host of new maps for the game, while also updating the signature battle royale mode Warzone. Along with a few other goodies, the seasonal updates truly change the game enough to where it’s worth loading back up time and time again. Season 5, as expected, is no different. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Season 5 is available on August 5th, bringing new operators, Warzone map changes, and maps for players. You can see all the new additions in action through the season trailer below.
What most players likely want to know are the map changes to Modern Warfare’s Verdansk. Biggest of all, the stadium has now been opened up. Players can now make use of various sightlines and areas of cover as they traverse the stadium. Will you run and gun to take out those scrambling, or is sniping from up high more your style? If the stadium doesn’t seem like your thing, maybe the new train will suit you better. This train runs through much of the map, plowing through everything in its path. Those who take control of the train not only snag the loot aboard but also have a very defensible position on their hands.
You’ll be able to hop into the changes with some new operators as well. Shadow Company brings with them Roze, Velikan, and Marcus “Lerch” Ortega to play as. All three have their distinct look, so choosing between them should be a challenge. You can expect another challenging choice to be some of the new weapons coming to Modern Warfare. We don’t know exactly which ones are coming, but the APC9 SMG, AN-94 Assault Rifle (which has appeared in several games), R700 Marksman Rifle, and the Intervention Sniper Rifle are all rumored to be coming. Modern Warfare 2 fans like myself should like the idea of the Intervention making a return.
Finally, the new maps coming to Modern Warfare’s Multiplayer mode. First of all is Suldal Harbor, for 6v6. This harbor looks to bring some new, more sea-worthy battles for players to fight across. Verdansk International Airport, on the other hand, brings the classic airport from Warzone into Modern Warfare’s Ground War mode. Following that is Livestock, having players fight across barns at different elevations in Gunfight. Finally, there’s Petrov Oil Rig, offering up something more nostalgic for fans of Modern Warfare 2 once again. All four of these maps look exciting, offering something new for players of the game’s multiplayer.
Overall, this looks like an exciting season for Modern Warfare players. We’d love to hear your thoughts though. Do any of the four maps interest you? How will you choose to fight across the stadium? Let us know, and stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
