A number of Call of Duty Warzone users are having issues connecting to the game’s server, with their in-game screen stuck on displaying a Fetching Online Profile message, and eventually got booted out after waiting more than 10 minutes. Nevertheless, currently what’s causing the problem isn’t clear; some players reported that the golden camo for the new Push Dagger caused an error to your profile. Meanwhile, others said that this is a random server connection issue. Before you also start pointing fingers, though, you might as well try these 11 methods that will hopefully help you fix COD Warzone stuck on Fetching Online Profile error message.
1. Check COD Warzone and Consoles’ Servers Availability
First, try checking out Warzone‘s server status. It could be your problem is caused by a server outage or maintenance. If the server is up but you’re having issues, then it might be a random issue that strikes random players.
- COD Warzone public server status page.
- PlayStation Network service status page.
- Xbox server status page.
Don’t forget to keep an eye on COD‘s social media accounts like Twitter to see if Raven Software and/or Infinity Ward have patched the issue.
2. Make Sure Antivirus or Firewall is Not Blocking the Game
Add the COD Warzone executable to your antivirus’s whitelist so your antivirus won’t interfere with the game’s connection. And to make sure your firewall isn’t blocking the game:
- Open Windows Start menu, search for Firewall or Windows Defender Firewall
- Pick the Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall
- Look for Call of Duty: Warzone and check both boxes. Click OK
- If you can’t find it, click the Allow another app button, go to your COD Warzone installation directory, and click on the ModernWarfare.exe. Check both boxes again.
3. Change Your DNS Address to Fix Warzone Fetching Online Profile Error
Usually, your internet service providers (ISP) will assign you to default DNS addresses that don’t need to be changed. However, DNS servers can go down or unknowingly filter/block connections to specific servers, causing connection problems to COD Warzone‘s server. Try changing your DNS server to more common ones like Google’s (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1), for example.
4. Turn On/Off Your VPN or Use a Different Connection
Just like your DNS, your default connection might be having trouble connecting to the COD Warzone server. In that case, you can try using a VPN to connect to a different server location. But if you already use a VPN, try switching it off.
You can also try using different connections altogether. First, to make sure, you could ask friends or family members that are using different ISPs if they’re having problems with the game or not. Then, try to get into the game by turning on the hotspot feature on your mobile phone and connecting to it. Compared to streaming movies through Netflix, just playing an online game shouldn’t eat too much of your monthly data limit (if you have it) since you’re not streaming the whole game assets back and forth and just downloading-and-uploading packets of small player data.
If the COD Warzone Fetching Online Profile error is fixed while using cellular data, it’s time to contact your ISP. Your ISP should be able to conduct complete network analysis, and they might even be able to fix any networking problem you’re encountering from their end. Asking for a static IP address might also help if you have connection issues with other games.
5. Repair or Verify Integrity of the Game Files (PC)
If you’re playing on PC through Battle.net, you can try repairing or verifying the game’s files’ integrity by:
- Launching Battle.net.
- Looking for COD Warzone in your Library.
- Clicking the cogwheel next to the Play button and select Scan and Repair.
- Clicking on the Begin Scan.
- Waiting for the repair to finish.
6. Delete COD Warzone Folder in Documents (PC)
Some players claimed that deleting the COD Warzone folder in your Documents folder might fix the issue. Simply put it into your Recycle Bin (or use Shift+Delete to delete it permanently); it’s not a hard thing to do, so you might as well try it.
7. Reinstall and Update Battle.net Launcher (PC)
You could also try reinstalling the Battle.net launcher to see if there’s a problem with it. Don’t worry, uninstalling the launcher app alone won’t uninstall any game (including Warzone) on your PC.
8. Give Admin Privileges to the COD Warzone Executable (PC)
Giving the game’s executable file admin privileges might help bypass some connection or update issues. Go to your COD Warzone installation folder, right-click on the ModernWarfare.exe, select Properties, go to the Compatibility tab, and in the Options, check the Run this program as administrator box. Click Apply to save the changes.
9. Clear Your Console Cache (Consoles)
Meanwhile, console players can try clearing their console caches to make sure there are no temporary files interrupting the game files or any update that was downloaded:
- Turn off your console (PlayStation/Xbox) completely; do not put it in sleep mode.
- Unplug the power cord for at least 5 minutes.
- Plug the power cord back.
- Turn on your console.
10. Restarting Your Modem or Router Might Fix Warzone Fetching Online Profile Error
A modem or router is still a (tiny) computer — only made to handle a specific task, managing your internet connections. And like your console or PC, things can go wrong from time to time. Turning off the device, waiting for 10-30 seconds, and turning it on again might’ve freed it from any crashes, IP conflict between connecting devices, or even overheating. The most basic tech advice usually works best for that reason.
11. Restart COD Warzone
Once you have restarted the modem or router, don’t forget to restart the game as well. Doing that makes sure that COD Warzone is now connecting to the new IP address assigned to your system.
12. Restarting Your System Also Could Help Fix Warzone Fetching Online Profile Error
Just like restarting your modem or router, turning off your preferred gaming device — console or PC — could also help fix the Fetching Online Profile error in COD Warzone. There might be any obstructive applications or in-game errors running in the background, and restarting your system should refresh the whole thing.
13. Uninstall and Redownload COD Warzone
Several Reddit users reported that when playing on Xbox, sometimes they need to uninstall and redownload the whole game to bypass any error message they encountered. Obviously, redownloading 92GB (or a whopping 175GB on PC) of files is extremely annoying, so save this method for last.
