One of the best western-themed shooters in video games launched on the Nintendo Switch on Tuesday. Call of Juarez is available now both in stores and on the Nintendo eShop.
For those not familiar with the game, players take on the role of bounty hunter Silas Greaves. Greaves is tasked with squaring off against some of the most famous outlaws of his time.
You’ll chase down Billy the Kid, Pat Garrett, Jesse James, and a host of other gunslingers. Along the way, you can upgrade your character to give him skills that will keep him alive through some pretty massive gunfights.
Originally launched on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, the Nintendo Switch version will have a few additions to the mechanics. The Switch version of Call of Juarez comes packed with motion control and HD Rumble features.
The motion control especially could be an exciting twist, depending on how it’s used. All three modes in the original versions will be in this port, as well.
Users will be able to play the story mode, a more gunfight heavy arcade version, or Duel. In Duel, the name of the game is to aim faster and pull the trigger before whatever gunslinger you’re going up against gets the jump on you.
For Red Dead Redemption 2 fans who are lamenting no Switch version, Call of Juarez could scratch that itch.
There’s something to be said for being able to shoot the bad guys while you’re on the go. At some point, Google Stadia will have RDR2 users covered there.
As has been the case with several Switch ports of older games, Call of Juarez is coming with a discounted price as well. With both a physical and digital release, the game is being offered for $19.99 and is available starting today.
