Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct had plenty to showcase for the first half of 2021. But for old-school Capcom fans, there was something special. Capcom Arcade Stadium, which Nintendo announced last December, is now available to download on the Switch e-shop. The collection includes 32 games in total from Capcom’s impressive arcade catalog. You can purchase it for $39.99. However, Nintendo also stated players can purchase 1 of 3 packs, each with 10 games. You can pick which batch of classic Capcom games you want for $14.99 each.
The three packs of Capcom Arcade Stadium have plenty of classics packed in, including Strider and Super Street Fighter Turbo. But the all-in-one collection gets a little bit extra. The free-to-play title 1943 – The Battle of Midway is included in the collection as is Ghosts ‘n Goblins. For players who purchase one of the packs but also want Ghosts ‘n Goblins, they’ll have to pay $1.99. However, in celebration of the franchise’s upcoming new entry, Ghosts ‘n Goblins will be a free add-on until February 25.
The Capcom Arcade Collection also offers a variety of ways to play these classic games. Not only will certain titles support up to four-player local multiplayer, but there are also a ton of customization options for gameplay. These include Game Speed, Difficulty, Display Settings, Display Filters, and a Rewind feature.
As mentioned earlier, this month sees the historic return of Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection, the first entry in 11 years. And this one will include local multiplayer. Joining franchise lead Arthur the knight are 3 other heroes. Barry can create barriers for protection, Kerry can carry Arthur through danger, and Archie creates bridges to cross.
Not announced during the Direct but still important for fans, Capcom is hosting a marathon stream to celebrate the release of its collection. Fans can check out its Twitch channel from 10 am to 10 pm on February 18 and 19 to join the celebration. A full list of streamers and games will be announced on Capcom USA’s social channels.
