Cara Delevingne admits she has not been okay. This is all in the wake of some behavior that really started scaring people last year. Delevingne was seen at various social events appearing to be heavily intoxicated. People started noticing it and pointing it out on TikTok. Though we expect celebs to falter now and then, she was getting close to being in a very bad place. It was then that she realized she had to make a change.
She decided instead of fighting it and making it worse, she would get help. She reached out to friends and family who helped her slowly but surely get her life together once again. On top of all that, she has had a busy couple years. She has her new show that focuses on sex, and the second season of Carnival Row started recently on Amazon. So the time for change was just right.
Cara Delevingne Admits She Has Not Been Okay Lately

Delevingne soon entered rehab where she found an additional buttress thanks to a 12-step program. “This process obviously has its ups and downs, but I’ve started realizing so much,” the Carnival Row alum said. “People want my story to be this after-school special where I just say, ‘Oh look, I was an addict, and now I’m sober and that’s it.’ And it’s not as simple as that. It doesn’t happen overnight…. Of course I want things to be instant — I think this generation especially, we want things to happen quickly — but I’ve had to dig deeper.” She added, “Before I was always into the quick fix of healing, going to a weeklong retreat or to a course for trauma, say, and that helped for a minute, but it didn’t ever really get to the nitty-gritty, the deeper stuff. This time I realized that 12-step treatment was the best thing, and it was about not being ashamed of that.
Sometimes just letting people know you are struggling can make a huge difference. It also takes real bravery to be able to share that with the world. Most people at their worst cannot imagine what it would be like to be in the public eye. Anytime someone with some public reach admits they have their own struggles, it tends to help other people struggling, too. And let’s be real, substance abuse is fairly common, but turning it around is always really impressive to see. Wishing you the best, Cara.
Keep your head up, kiddo.
