As Absolute Carnage swallows New York, Cletus Kasady has infected hundreds of people to create his own army of drones. On the hunt for current and former symbiote hosts, the madman leaves death and destruction in his wake. While Carnage has been targeting specific characters for the codex in their spines, a new and unexpected victim has fallen to the crazed villain.
Major Absolute Carnage #2 Spoilers Ahead
Venom, lacking the strength to defeat Carnage on his own, enlists Spider-Man to aid him. Heading to the Ravencroft Institute for the Criminally Insane to rescue Norman Osborn, the duo finds Miles Morales teaming up with Scorpion to fend off a drone attack. Mac Gargan hosted the Venom symbiote in the past, making him an ideal candidate for Carnage’s plan. As the villain rips into Gargan’s spine, he is interrupted by a bioelectric fist from Miles. This allows Venom to grab Scorpion and attempt an escape with him on his back.
However, the Lethal Protector realizes too late that Miles has been wrapped in Carnage’s tendrils. With a final plea for help, the Ultimate Spider-Man succumbs, becoming a drone. What makes this loss hurt, even more, is the fact that Miles could have been a big help. In the Venom series, Miles and Venom discovered that the former can hurt the Grendel symbiote with his bioelectric blasts. Therefore, it stands to reason that Miles may be able to hurt Knull as well.
To make matters worse, Eddie Brock discovers that his son Dylan may, in fact, be a codex in human form. Eddie’s deceased ex-wife Anne Weying, who was once She-Venom, unknowingly transferred her codex to her newborn child at birth. Though Venom’s ally, the Maker, works to remove codices from host bodies, it is now unclear is this method will work on Dylan, as it seems he is a codex himself.
Absolute Carnage is sure to become even more nightmarish and twisted before it’s over. Venom and Spider-Man have their work cut out for them if they hope to defeat their old mutual enemy. How will the heroes free Miles Morales? What will become of Eddie’s son, Dylan? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
