The pandemic shuttered the doors on the documentary parody series Documentary Now!, but it returns with season 4. It will guest star Cate Blanchett and more in the long-awaited return of the acclaimed series. Singer Tom Jones will guest star too with Jamie Demetriou (The Afterparty), Trystan Gravelle (Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power), Jonathan Pryce (The Two Popes), John Rhys-Davies (The Lord of The Rings trilogy), and Harriet Walter (Succession).
Created by Bill Hader, Fred Armisen, and Seth Myers, the six-time Emmy-nominated anthology series parodies the obsession with documentaries. Hellen Mirren hosts the series, with Hader and Armisen having recurring roles. Previous guest stars include writer Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous), Owen Wilson, Anne Hathaway, Michael C. Hall, Michael Keaton, and John Mulaney.
Guest starring in Documentary Now! is not the first time for Cate Blanchett. She starred in the season 3 episode Waiting for the Artist, nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series with directors Alexander Buono (Russian Doll) and Rhys Thomas (Hawkeye) getting the nomination. For Documentary Now! season 4, the two-time Academy Award winner stars with Walter in a fashion mockumentary titled Two Hairdressers in Bagglyport.
