Following an action-packed performance as August Walker in Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Henry Cavill is eyeing his next big action role. The British actor looks to join the likes of Daniel Craig, Pierce Brosnan, and Sean Connery, hoping to be the next James Bond.
In an interview with Yahoo UK, Cavill spoke about the opportunity to star as Bond.
I would love to do it of course. I think Bond would be a really fun role. It’s British, it’s cool. I think that now that I have my Mission: Impossible badge we can do real stunts and really amp it up as well… Not to say they weren’t doing real stunts I’m just saying it would be fun for me to actually take what I’ve learnt on this and carry it through to a movie like Bond. I’d love to play a Brit. I don’t get to play a Brit very often. So yes, I would love the opportunity and if they were to ask I would say “yes.”
Cavill seems like he’d be the perfect fit for the role. Alongside having the suave look, he has plenty of spy experience, from the aforementioned part in Mission: Impossible 6 to his hilariously charming leading role The Man from U.N.C.L.E. He isn’t the only one vying for the role though. Idris Elba and Charlize Theron are just two of the many names hoping to ad diversity to the role of James Bond.
Whoever the next Bond will be, it won’t be decided upon anytime soon. Bond 25 comes out next year, starring Daniel Craig, so casting for his replacement isn’t the most pending thing on MGM’s agenda.
