One of the most iconic Pokemon is celebrating a birthday today. February 6 is the birthday of Mewtwo, but just how old is he? Well since the Pokemon is genetically modified, it is up to speculation on how old the seemingly ancient Pokemon is. All we know is that he was born from the genetics of the mystic Pokemon, Mew.
To celebrate the birthday of Mewtwo lets look back on some of the histories behind the iconic pocket monster. Mewtwo was the original endgame boss of Pokemon Yellow, Red and Blue. He has more recently made an appearance in Pokemon: Lets Go Eevee and Pikachu. Fighting all the way through the Kanto region nets players the chance to battle and catch the once terrifyingly powerful Pokemon. Those who were patient with their Master Ball were able to catch and tame their foe and add them to their team.
Following this, he became the titular villain of Pokemon: The First Movie. After having seen the Pokemon floating across the screen in the opening of the anime, fans were excited to finally get some answers on what the Pokemon would be like. What they got was a scary yet misunderstood villain, shooting the Pokemon to iconic status alongside the likes of its counterpart, Mew. He will get another chance to shine in the upcoming film, Pokemon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution.
This film is looking like a remake of the original film in which he attempted to clone other Pokemon to make them more powerful. It is still yet to be seen how closely the new film will follow the plot of the original, but for now, it is shaping up to be and exciting remake.
Mewtwo has also been featured in various other forms of media. Mewtwo has recently crossed over into Super Smash Bros 4 and Super Smash Bros Ultimate as a playable fighter.
