The character may have not been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as long as many other heroes, but Black Panther has quickly become a fan favorite. Prince T’Challa is a figure many associates with the land of Wakanda and his actor, Chadwick Boseman, played him incredibly well. The character rose the actor to much higher heights. Unfortunately, Endgame is the last we’ll be seeing of his portrayal. Chadwick Boseman’s family announced on his Twitter that he passed away at 43 in his home. His passing comes following a several year battle with colon cancer. You can find the family’s message below.

Boseman was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, two years before his solo movie Black Panther. Despite the diagnosis, Chadwick Boseman kept fighting through while also playing T’Challa in several Avengers movies to come. Unfortunately, the cancer wasn’t going away and eventually progressed to stage IV, which at that point almost always spells the end. When he passed today, he was surrounded by his wife and family. It’s incredibly sad, and we wish the best for Boseman’s family during this incredibly difficult time. He was a very talented actor, and will not soon be forgotten.
Regarding his career and life, Chadwick Boseman’s family had the following to say:
”A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.”
A true fighter indeed, all the way to the end. It’s a shame we won’t ever see him in Black Panther 2 or any future works. Despite that, it’s good we got to see his incredible talent in so many works. Rest in peace Chadwick Boseman, you’re a Wakandan forever in our hearts.
