Chanel West Coast is leaving Ridiculousness after over a decade, but there’s no rest in store for this MTV star as she teases audiences with her next project: a documentary series giving fans an intimate look at the life she shares with her boyfriend, LA-based model Dom Fenison, and the couple’s 4-month-old daughter Bowie Breeze Fenison. West Coast has promised that the new project will get up close and personal with “the real her” for the first time.
Chanel West Coast, 34, has been a hallmark of MTV’s Ridiculousness for 12 years, co-hosting the show alongside Sterling “Steelo” Brim and creator Rob Dyrdek. In roughly the same vein as America’s Funniest Home Videos, Ridiculousness featured West Coast and her co-stars reacting to viral clips of epic fails, hilarious moments, and – well, ridiculousness. But despite her love for the show and her co-hosts, Chanel West Coast has admitted that her role doesn’t allow fans to really get to know her as the new docuseries will.
“On Ridiculousness, I’m just a co-host,” she told E! News. “They don’t really get to know my story and what I’m up to. Now they’re gonna know beyond what I’m up to—they’re gonna basically see me rolling out of bed with eye boogers.”
West Coast has also said that fans can expect “a lot of craziness” from the new documentary, between her own career, her boyfriend Dom’s career, and the difficulty of raising a 4-month-old baby while in the middle of the Los Angeles limelight. In addition to being a TV personality, she also released her debut rap album, America’s Sweetheart, in 2020, and her own original eco-friendly swimwear brand, Coasty Swim, in 2022.
Chanel West Coast Exits ‘Ridiculousness’ on MTV
Regarding her exit from Ridiculousness, West Coast has admitted that she’s going to miss hosting the comedy clip show with Rob Dyrdek and Steelo Brim on the show’s iconic red couch, but that she’s also going to miss getting the inside scoop on the best – and worst – of the internet’s most ridiculous viral videos.
“I’ll definitely miss getting to see those hilarious viral videos first before anybody else,” she told PEOPLE Magazine. “There’s been so many times where people will send me a viral video, and I’m like, ‘I’ve already seen that.’ I’ve always been the one to see these videos first and now I’m going to be not the first one to see them, so I’ll just be back to watching them at home and laughing from the computer.”
Chanel West Coast’s exit from Ridiculousness comes as MTV is reportedly scouting Basketball Wives star Draya Michele as a new co-host for the clip show. More information on Chanel West Coast’s new docuseries will be forthcoming as it continues development, but we’re excited to see what she’ll get up to next.
