Chris Evans is rumored to play Gene Kelly in a new movie that is still in the early stages of production. Chris Evans will also be producing the untitled film. The news was originally reported on Deadline, saying the movie is about “a 12-year-old boy who works on the MGM lot in 1952 and begins to create an imagined friendship with the legendary movie star, Gene Kelly, while working on his next film”.
The Untitled Gene Kelly movie is still in early development and has a long way to go before we see much more news on the film. Gene Kelly was a legendary actor in the Golden Age of Hollywood, known for his iconic dancing. Gene Kelly, much like Chris Evans today, was known as a heartthrob in his prime. Gene Kelly died in 1996 at the age of 83. Kelly was known for his work in The Three Musketeers, Take Me Out to the Ball Game, Summer Stock, An American in Paris, and his most well-known role of Don Lockwood in the classic musical, Singin’ in the Rain.
Chris Evans is no stranger to anyone, having played the iconic role of Steve Rogers aka Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is also known for his roles in Not Another Teen Movie, The Fantastic 4, and Knives Out.
Chris Evans has his hands full with many new projects coming out in the next few years, including playing the iconic role of Buzz Lightyear in the movie Lightyear, set to come out later in 2022. Chris Evans will also be starring in The Gray Man which will be streaming later this year on Netflix. He is also rumored to be playing a role in the hit musical movie, Little Shop of Horrors, that is currently in pre-production. We’ll see if he’ll have time to play the legendary dancer, Gene Kelly.
Chris Evans is not known for singing and dancing like Gene Kelly, but he has won us over playing Captain America, so it will be no surprise if he can manage to do the same with portraying the iconic dancer too!
