Reality star Chrishell Stause’s real estate career has seen her clinch mouth-watering deals, with most of these featured on the Netflix reality series, Selling Sunset. In a recent interview with WMagazine, the 41-year-old went candid about her career journey, from her real-life struggles as a famous real estate agent to her future ambitions in showbiz.
Asked how she manages to navigate between her real life and reality television, the star explained she sometimes had to mix in different personalities. The downside was having to put up with dramatic situations with people she’d rather avoid in the real world, as there was no show without the drama. The reality of what her job entailed helped the TV personality figure out exactly where her passion lay.
Chrishell Stause Favors Acting Over Real Estate
In the same interview, the reality star expressed how much satisfaction she derived from role-playing, which she deems easier than putting her real life out there for reality TV. The star, who embraced acting professionally in 2005, considers it her first love and makes no secret of that. She divulged:
“It’s always going to be that first love for me. It’s less stressful too because it’s not you personally. You’re playing a character and are not responsible for whether people hate a character who is really mean or crazy.”
According to Chrishell, people hating a character in a play only meant the actor did a good job. This was unlike reality television, where whatever she did was documented and taken at face value, which in turn informed the world’s perception and opinion of her.
Her Real Estate Portfolio Isn’t All That Impressive
The real estate agent also came clean about what reality television really entailed. She explained how the show creators strived to capture the subjects at their best and worst moments, with the most dramatic events tending to take a life of their own.
Hence, while the Netflix series tends to paint her as a dedicated real estate agent, her love for acting calls louder. These days, Chrishell Stause rarely takes up real estate deals, opting instead to stick to those that would be televised for Selling Sunset. So far, she has clinched only seven successful deals this year, an unimpressive figure for a world-famous real estate agent. Explaining her choices, the star said:
“I obviously would be doing a lot more if that were my sole focus, but it isn’t. I try to only take the jobs that are going to be filming on the show, or involve people I’ve worked with in the past.”
The actress thinks herself not cut out for 9 to 5 jobs, hence her reason for shying away from her career as a realtor. Instead, she casts her toes deep in acting, taking on roles that come her way. In pursuit of her acting dreams, the icon has appeared in movies like Days of Our Lives, where she had a recurring character from 2013 to 2015.
