Christian Bale made it clear he had no idea what the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is. Bale told Total Film,
“I’d read that, and people would go, ‘Oh, look at this! He’s entered the MCU! ‘And I’d go, ‘I’ve done what? I haven’t entered shit, thank you very much.’ I’m like, ‘The MCU?’ I had to ask what that was.”
He will play Gorr the God Butcher in Taika Waititi’s film Thor: Love and Thunder. When the film premieres on July 8th, Christian Bale will be making his MCU debut. Christian Bale says that his Thor: Love and Thunder character has “sort of a Nosferatu slight attitude.” Bale and Waititi had many discussions on Gorr the God Butcher so Bale could feel prepared for the role. Waititi wanted to incorporate dance sequences based on Kate Bush’s style, which has come into the limelight again thanks to Stranger Things.
Gorr, the God Butcher, is Not Bale’s First Role in a Comic Universe
It’s been a couple of years since it was announced that Christian Bale was going to play Gorr the God Butcher in the MCU. Only Bale is just catching up with the zeitgeist surrounding Thor: Love and Thunder. Gorr, the God Butcher, is not anywhere near the first time Bale has been in a comic adaptation film. He is well known for playing the suave and tortured Bruce Wayne in Christopher Nolan’s Batman films. Other notable films of Bale’s include American Psycho, Equilibrium, and The Fighter. Christian Bale will show his contribution to the MCU with Thor: Love and Thunder. He has earned many accolades throughout his long career, and his portrayals have become well known in pop culture.
