Christiane Paul has announced that she will officially leave the cast of FBI: International, a crime drama based on CBS. Paul’s character, FBI Agent Katrin Jaeger, left the show after being awarded a promotion at the end of the show’s first season; she will be replaced by Eva-Jane Willis, who will portray a new FBI Agent.
FBI: International, which first premiered on CBS in September 2021, features an international team of FBI agents based out of Budapest and led by Agent Scott Forrester (Luke Kleintank), a grizzled, experienced FBI agent. The rest of the team includes Agent Jamie Kellett (Heida Reed), a career agent and Forrester’s right hand; Agent Andre Raines (Carter Redwood), a young, intelligent agent with a focus on accounting; Agent Cameron Vo (Vinessa Vidotto), a West Point grad and the team’s newest member; and Tank, a retired cadaver dog.
Christiane Paul’s Role in ‘FBI: International’ and her Replacement
Christiane Paul appeared in the show’s first season as Agent Katrin Jaeger, a German Europol Agent who acted as a liaison for the team; in the season one finale, “Crestfallen,” which aired on May 24, 2022, Katrin accepted a promotion to oversee all of Western Europe with Europol, leading to her leaving her FBI team behind. The real-world reason for Paul’s departure from FBI: International is unknown. Still, it has been confirmed that she will be replaced by Eva-Jane Willis, playing Megan “Smitty” Garretson, who Deadline describes as “a street-wise Europol agent with an extensive undercover background.” Garretson will reportedly fill a role similar to the one Jaeger left behind, acting as a liaison between the FBI team and their host countries.
Willis’ appearances on the show will begin with the season 2 premiere of FBI: International on September 20th, 2022. CBS approved two-season renewals for all of its FBI shows in May, according to TVLine, with CBS executive Kelly Kahl calling FBI and FBI: International “one of the most successful brands in the entire TV landscape.”
Season 2 of FBI: International starring Eva-Jane Willis, Luke Kleintank, Heida Reed, Carter Redwood, and Vinessa Vidotto, will premiere on CBS in September 2022, airing Tuesdays at 9/8c.
