Widely known as the world’s most dangerous amusement park, Action Park was a staple of the New York/New Jersey childhood in the 80s and 90s. To some it was the best place on Earth, to others it was a death trap.
Now, Class Action Park delves into the story of Action Park with real-life recordings and testimonials with people who have lived through the insanity that was the dangerous water park.
Delving into never-before-seen documents, footage, animations and interviews with people, Class Action Park is the first-ever feature-length documentary which takes an investigative lens to explore the legend, legacy, and truth behind a place that’s now a myth.
Over the years, there have been many who shared their experiences within the park over the years – inspiring feature films, scripted series, and most recently a tell-all book penned by the son of the ingenious founder of the park, Andy Mulvihill.
HBO Max’s Class Action Park is the latest addition to the Action Park Nostalgia Vortex, which also includes a book, a feature film and a TV series all inspired by the place, currently in development.
The documentary is directed by Seth Porges and Chris Charles Scott, with Liz DeCesare executive producing. It also features an original score by The Holladay Brothers.Cutting through haze the nostalgia associated with the park, the director duo deliver the harsh truths- including the human cost- of the park.
Class Action Park will premiere 3 a.m. ET/midnight PT Thursday, August 27 on HBO Max. The documentary is special to the streaming service and will not air on regular HBO.
