Comanche may be the game that makes you forget the Ace Combat series. While flight simulators were almost exclusively about flying jet airplanes, developers of this game will change that. THQ Nordic, developers of the series’ previous iteration, has teamed up with developer NUKKLEAR to bring the series back. With a whole new reskin on helicopters and graphics, this is a game on a whole new level.
The focus for NUKKLEAR’s Comanche will be on multiplayer. In addition to commanding your own armored Comanche helicopter, you’ll also control advanced drones to chase enemies into tight spaces. There will be about four different drones to choose from. And who doesn’t want to control a tiny robot to control and shoot at enemies with?
Players will not simply be driving their own armored helicopter. They’ll have five different classes to choose from. There is also a continually improving single-player campaign. If you aren’t one to simply drop into a game, there is a training mode for first-time Comanche players.
If you are partial to having realistic flight control, support for HOTAS joystick peripherals is currently in Alpha. As a result of community feedback, there are more planned improvements as well. Isn’t it refreshing that a developer is so receptive to the feedback given?
Comanche Future Updates
Currently, there is only one level available in Comanche’s single-player mode. April’s update will see a second mission added to the mode and later a third. There will also be options to change the level of graphics displayed. As the game is currently in Early Access, there is no definite answer on how many mission single-player will have. Eventually, there will also be more drones, skins, and improvements to the HUD.
The game is currently available on Steam for $14.99. Will you be jumping into the cockpit? Let us know in the comments!
