Comedian and actor Teddy Ray has died at the age of 32. The Hollywood Reporter says that Ray was a rising star who had made appearances on Wild n’ Out, How to Be Broke, and HBO Max’s Pause With Sam Jay. The comedian, actor, and writer was reported dead at a private residence in Rancho Mirage, California. Ray’s cause of death is unknown and is currently being investigated by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office, according to Sheriff’ ‘s Sgt. Brandi Swan. This has been a tragic week, as Ray’s unexpected death at such a young age occurs in the same week we’ve said goodbye to stars, Olivia Newton-John and Anne Heche.

Teddy Ray, whose legal name was Theadore Brown, was born in Los Angeles on July 30, 1990. Variety reports that he gained attention as a comic performing at the Improv and the Laugh Factory. He also acted in multiple comedy shows on YouTube’s All Def Digital and television. His first TV gig was on BET’s Comic View. His appearance on Pause With Sam Jay was his most recent appearance.
Ray’s friends and fellow talents are pouring out tributes on social media. Insecure and Rap Sh! tcreator Issa Rae’s production Hoorae tweeted, “Rest in Power to our longtime creative collaborator and friend, Teddy Ray. Grateful for the energy you always brought to our projects and sets!” Abbott Elementary creator and star Quinta Brunson commented on Ray’s last Instagram post, writing, “Heartbroken. Going to miss you teddy.” All Def tweeted, “All Def Family, we’re heartbroken and still can’t believe that our brother Teddy Ray has passed away. We will miss him every day, but we know he will have Heaven laughing. Our deepest condolences and prayers to his immediate family and friends.”
