Players who own the digital deluxe version of Control for PS4 and season pass holders on all consoles will get the expansion when it releases. Otherwise, AWE will be available for $14.99 for all three systems.
For those who want to get a glimpse at what is in the AWE expansion, Remedy will be streaming gameplay on August 13. Creative Director Sam Lake, probably no relation to Alan, and Control Game Director Mikael Kasurinen will stream the first 15 minutes live on Twitch. The event will be hosted by Remedy’s community manager Vida Starčević.
The developers will also talk about what they are calling the “Remedy Connected Universe.” Which could play around with the idea of joining other Remedy games together in one shared world; their version of the MCU. Alan Wake released for the Xbox 360 in 2010 and on PC in 2012. The game followed the aforementioned character as he searched for the disappearance of his wife. Remedy is also creating a television series about the game.
Control received the Action Game of the Year award from the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences at the 23rd D.I.C.E Awards. It was released on August 27, 2019.
