When you first open the box, it doesn’t look like much of a keyboard. It looks like a plain black keyboard. But, once you start using it and turn on the backlight, you see a completely different picture.
Corsair is using the CAPELLIX LEDs which are really bright and do not take as much power as other RGB LEDs. There are at least eighteen different lighting effects.
Amazon describes this keyboard as:
Light up your wireless gaming with the K57 RGB wireless gaming Keyboard, connecting with sub-1ms Slipstream wireless, Bluetooth, or USB wired. Capellix LEDs create brilliant per-key RGB Backlighting, brighter and more efficient than conventional LEDs. Six dedicated macro keys help give you an in-game edge, while a detachable palm rest reduces stress on your wrists. Quiet and responsive keys are great for comfortable typing or intense game play, while dedicated volume and multimedia keys put control over your media at the touch of a button. Powered by CUE software to enable detailed customization of RGB lighting along with custom macros and key remaps, the K57 RGB wireless turns up the lights.
As you can see, this keyboard has 6 programmable macro keys (G1 – G6).
It also has a numeric pad integrated into it for those times you might need it.
CORSAIR iCUE software is included and provides control for vivid dynamic lighting, assistance in programming macros, and is used to synchronize the lighting not only with the keyboard but other compatible CORSAIR peripherals and more.
The palm rest is not the most amazing thing I have ever seen and I could see some finding it just as comfortable to use the keyboard without it.
Verdict:
The Corsair K57 RGB Wireless Keyboard is another great product from a great company. This keyboard has all the bells and whistles for gaming and is functional for other uses. If you are looking for a wireless keyboard for gaming, this would be a good option. One improvement would be to provide a little better palm rest. I would probably just use the keyboard without it but others might find it more comfortable. It could be a personal preference. Overall, this is a very good product.
