Crash Bandicoot was something of a PlayStation mascot back in the ’90s. Naughty Dog’s platforming marsupial was synonymous with quality and the first title was enough to convince me to buy the first PlayStation all those years ago.
Unfortunately, after the third game, the quality of the franchise was a bit up and down, at least until Vicarious Visions treated us to the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy in 2017. Delivering a quality collection of the first three games reminded gamers why they fell in love with Crash in the first place.
Since then there have been countless rumors about a new game. The rumors have gathered pace in recent weeks with leaked box art and screenshots appearing on the web. As of today, the rumors are no more as Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time has officially been revealed.
Even better news is that the title will release on October, 2, this year. Take a look at the announcement trailer below, it certainly looks special:

While I’m not sure I really wanted new power-ups, I must say that everything in this trailer looks as if classic Crash is coming back in a big way and I couldn’t be more excited.
Following on from the events of Crash Bandicoot: Warped, the latest game will bring us right up to date in Crash’s timeline, 1998. He finds a mysterious mask that turns out to be one of the quantum masks and who apparently knows Aku-Aku, the only mask you can hear just by saying the name.
With these masks returning and a quantum rift opening up our heroes decide to venture in and resolve the problem, at least until part 5.
With a new Crash Bandicoot and a remaster of Tony Hawk’s on the way it really is a great time to be alive for anyone who grew up in the ’90s. I can’t wait to bring you more on Crash 4 as soon as it comes in and in the meantime, please feel free to join me in re-watching that trailer 1000 times.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will release on October, 2 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox one, be sure to let us know what you think about this announcement in the comments.
