Fans of Critical Role and the energetic, witty, and feel-good Twitch show, All Work No Play, have been asking for a second season ever since the first ended in November of 2018. As 2019 came and went, there was the occasional mention of filming, but nothing beyond that. But now, there is finally a release date for the second season, along with a video on what can be expected!
This show is a spin-off from the Critical Role brand. It was initially born from a podcast by Sam Riegel and Liam O’Brien, long before Critical Role first came to Twitch in 2015. Riegel and O’Brien often chatted about their podcast during the weekly Dungeons and Dragons episodes, and fans wanted them to bring it back. In 2018, it returned in video format. The episodes ranged from twenty minutes to an hour, and they featured the two chatting about their lives while also going on fun adventures.
Some of the interesting things they did included learning to fire dance, putting on scary creature masks, and trying out goat yoga. They often included guests on their show, including Marisha Ray and TJ Storm. The cast joked about the long period to get to season two, but the preview video released on their YouTube makes each month worth the wait.
While O’Brien teased events would include shark baiting, shark dating, and shark mating, there was a real tease for what to expect. It appears that some of the events of this season include a stone massage, blacksmithing, and cutting logs with a chainsaw. It will premier on February 4th, a Tuesday, at 4 pm Pacific time. The episodes will air every other Tuesday. It will be available on the Critical Role Twitch channel and be uploaded for VOD on YouTube that following Thursday. It will also be available in straight Podcast form the Tuesday one week after the air date on Podbean.
