Critical Role announces second art book arriving fall 2018! Titled The Chronicles of Exandria Vol. II: The Legend of Vox Machina, it will tell the second half of the heroes’ story. This Dungeons and Dragons game is played live on Twitch. Featuring Dungeon Master Matthew Mercer and a cast of well-known voice actors as the players. The first campaign ended in October of 2017, and the second campaign started up the first of the year 2018. The first art book chronicled the first half of the story featuring artwork from the fans. This second book will wrap up the story of campaign one, and showcase art done by the fanbase.
So what do we know so far? Announced at GenCon 2018 and Critical Role’s website, the art book will feature a standard edition and a deluxe edition. Both will have 258 pages and include art from 96 different fan artists. The deluxe edition will also include a faux leather cover, ribbon bookmark, gold foil stamping, and a print of the cover art.
Two members of the Critical Role cast, Liam O’Brien and Taliesin Jaffe, oversaw the production of both art books. Critical Role presents fan art from its dedicated community before each weekly episode. Art is displayed during the brief intermission the players take in the middle of each episode. During its talk show, Talks Machina, fan art of the week is featured and prizes awarded. Prizes include beautiful wood dice towers, character mini vaults, and dice trays from Wyrmwood.
We have yet to learn the exact date of the art book release, but updates will happen on Critical Role’s website, critrole.com. The book will be sold exclusively there with limited quantity.
You can watch weekly episodes of Critical Role on Twitch every Thursday at 7 pm PST, and catch Talks Machina every Tuesday at 7 pm PST.
