This week is the last for Critical Role content as they take a break for the end of 2019. To celebrate, they hosted a fireside chat with all of the cast to answer fan questions, look back on their accomplishments, and play games. Everyone was there except Sam Riegel, who called from his children’s party.
The event started with a photo montage of memories from 2019. It included live shows, their art gallery, behind the scenes, costumes, and scenes at the Dungeons and Dragons table. Then they answered live-submitted questions. Many had to do with the holiday season as well as looking back over the last year. As usual, the cast was candid, charming, and authentic in their answers.
It was a two-hour long chat, and the cast of Critical Role made time to play some games. One recommended was The Jackbox Party Game, featuring trivia, drawing, and tee-shirt design games. They took many suggestions from the watching fans on which minigames inside the overall game to play.
They looked back on the year, highlighting their favorite parts of starting a business together, what they are looking forward to in 2020, and some of their favorite moments of the campaign so far. One highlighted moment was the Mighty Nein’s time in Darktow and the confrontation of pirate captain Avantika. One of their favorite outside-of-game moments was the wildly successful Kickstarter for their animated series that raised $11 Million in less than two months. This project was recently picked up by Amazon Prime for two seasons. They promised many exciting projects ahead, discussing that they were in the works on multiple endeavors that they couldn’t talk about just yet.
The cast of Critical Role finished off with warm wishes for everyone’s holiday. Their last episode of 2019 airs this Thursday on their Twitch channel at 7 pm Pacific time. They will not return until the second week of January 2020.
