Crunchyroll’s anime 2022 list was finally released and posted at AnimeNYC2021. So far, the titles on the list include the following:
Spy x Family
The highly anticipated Spy x Family is headlining the Crunchyroll anime list for 2022. The anime is based on the Weekly Shonen Jump manga by Tatsuya Endo. WIT STUDIO and Cloverworks will be producing the series. As of now, Spy x Family has a worldwide circulation of more than 12.5 million copies. It was also nominated for a Harvey Award this year. Crunchyroll has also released a new trailer for the series.
Spy x Family tells the story of a super-spy named Loid Forger (Twilight). Forger’s latest mission requires him to pretend like he’s the head of a traditional household. However, this mission becomes further complicated when his pretend wife is an infamous assassin, and his pretend daughter is a government escapee with psychic powers.
Tomodachi Game
Another title for the Crunchyroll 2022 list is Tomodachi Game. This anime adaptation will follow the storyline of Yuki Sato’s manga of the same title and will premiere in April 2022.
The series follows Katagiri Yuiichii and his highly cherished friends. His peaceful life then comes to an end when about 2 million yen in school trip fees goes missing. From there, Yuichi and his friends get caught up in the “Tomodachi Game”. The real decisions come when they must decide if money or friendship matters more.
Tomodachi Game has also inspired a live-action film and a live-action series in 2017.
Dance Dance Danseur
Another revealed title for the Crunchyroll 2022 anime list is Dance Dance Danseur. The adaptation of George Asakura’s manga will premiere in 2022. This title is also the first title of Asakura’s to get an anime.
The manga centers around Junpei Murano, who was always fascinated with ballet. With the passing of his father in middle school, he decided that he needed to become “more masculine” and gave up on ballet. As he replaced ballet with martial arts, a new transfer student inspires his love for ballet once again.
