Last month, the grand strategy game Crusader Kings III celebrated selling two million units. At that time, Game Director Alex Oltner said that Paradox Interactive “have big plans for CK3.” The next part of those “big plans” seems to be just around the corner. Today, Paradox Interactive revealed the release date for Crusader Kings III: Fate of Iberia. This newest Crusader Kings III DLC will launch on May 31st.
What can you expect when Crusader Kings III: Fate of Iberia launches on May 31st?
This new DLC for Crusader Kings III will center around Spain and Portugal. As the name suggests, it will be up to the player to determine the fate of this region. According to today’s announcement, the new Struggle system should prove useful here:
“This flavor pack for Paradox Interactive’s critically acclaimed grand strategy role-playing game introduces Struggles, a new system that highlights the unique historical circumstances that typify regions that have been centers of conflict. In Fate of Iberia, players will have new tools to deal with the region’s particular situation, with rival claims and personal grudges taking center stage amidst the vibrant cultural mosaic of Medieval Spain.”
Other additions to the game include more historical events, Cultural Traditions, and Legacy tracks.
Last, but not least, today’s announcement also revealed the content of a free update for all Crusader Kings III players:
“This update will add a new faction type to challenge your ruler, Heads of Faith that can be shared by different religions, vassal contracts for clans, and, of course, a new starting bookmark that highlights interesting Iberian characters for the 867 start date.”
Crusader Kings III: Fate of Iberia is scheduled for a May 31st release date. If you can’t wait to play, then you can pick up the base game and its other DLC right now. Crusader Kings III is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
