The newest release from Free League Publishing Crypt of the Mellified Mage takes players to four new locations in the tabletop roleplaying game Forbidden Lands. The module was officially announced during this year’s Gen Con Online convention.
The book contains four locations players can explore in the TTRPG. Along with the Crypt of the Mellified Mage (written by Fiona Maeve Geist), there is also The Firing Pit (written by David McGrogan), Temple of the Six-Limbed Lord (written by Zedeck Siew), and The Dream-Cloud of E’lok Thir (written by Adam Koebel). The book features art by Alvaro Tapia.
Lit by guttering candles, the timeworn saint’s shrine still reeks of burnt offerings. Plaster dust floats in the still air as you smash away a mosaic depicting a wondrous healer tending wounds with a honeyed touch – eyes become bright and clear, limbs vital rather than withered, the dead rise from their graves and dance about him. As the mural crumbles beneath your determined blows, a blackened iron door is revealed, decorated with the image of a bee. The air beyond is stale, yet tinged with the putrid smell of spoiled meat and something oddly floral….”
Forbidden Lands was released in 2018. The game throws a twist at the standard NPC has a quest for your party to complete, by instead having the adventurers be raiders looking to make a few gold coins. Sessions consist of characters wandering the world seeking out treasure in forgotten tombs or surviving the harsh wilderness of the world. They will visit locations scattered around the world that each has its history. Each one of the titles released in Crypt of the Mellified Mage is a new location groups can scour.
Free League Publishing recently released The Bitter Reach guidebook in April. Both and more are available to order online and through DriveThruRPG. The company also announced a new module for its Alien RPG.
