In November, the original Crysis will be 13 years old. The game is quite frankly a classic and one that still holds up well to this day. It wasn’t until halfway through the 2010s that we saw games sporting graphics much above what Crysis 1 had. It’s a technical achievement, proving Crytek is capable of something that truly revolutionizes the industry. While that may be relegated to Crytek’s Cryengine software these days, the team isn’t out of video game development just yet. They’ve been hard at work on a remaster of the game and it has been out on Nintendo Switch for a while. Now though, it’s time for other platforms to experience the game once again. Crysis Remastered is now available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. You can watch the new reveal trailer below.
Crysis Remastered follows the story of Raptor Team, a group of soldiers given experimental exosuits known as the Nanosuit. These suits enhance human abilities, giving them superior strength, armor, agility, and cloaking. This team is deployed to the fictional Lingshan Islands to battle with hostile North Korean forces. What they weren’t expecting though, is something much more ancient hiding within the island that has catastrophic consequences. As Nomad, venture across the islands and discover the truth in one of the most revolutionary games of its time.
You can expect a lot of visual and performance improvements from Crysis Remastered, above what the original provides. Crytek has redone the texturing completely, upscaling the game to 8K textures. Joining that is a complete lighting overhaul, making the island look much more realistic than before. These join other minor improvements which when combined, make Crysis Remastered look beautiful.
It’s an ambitious remaster, and one that hopefully will win the hearts of fans. I’m hopeful, but I’d like to hear your thoughts. Will you be stepping back onto the Lingshan Islands? Which Crysis game is your favorite? Let me know, and stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
